Measurements of short-term flow processes in refrigerating systems.

Author(s) : BUCK W. C.

Type of article: Article, IJR article

Summary

Short-term processes were investigated experimentally in both an automotive air-conditioning system and a stationary refrigerating system. For this purpose, a hot-film anemometer, a pressure transducer and a temperature sensor were used to determine the mass velocity of the gas phase, the mass velocity of the liquid phase and the superheat in the suction line. The measurements have lead to the conclusion that, for the processes investigated, the use of superheat does not offer a safe means to control or regulate the filling of the evaporator with refrigerant.
