Type of monograph: Report

Summary

This report was prepared as an account of work sponsored by ARTI under its "HVAC&R Research for the 21st Century Program". Its objective was to determine the performance of CO2 microchannel evaporators and gas coolers in operational conditions representing those of residential heat pumps. Experiments were conducted to evaluate capacities and pressure drops for sub-critical CO2 flow boiling and transcritical CO2 gas cooling. Extract from the table of contents: research background; test facilities and system components (indoor loop, outdoor duct, evaporator, gas cooler, refrigerant loop, compressor, data acquisition system, instrumentation and measurements); experimental results for microchannel evaporator and gas cooler; conclusions and proposed future work.
