Modelling and predictive control of milk pasteurisation in a plate heat exchanger.

Author(s) : KHADIR M. T., RICHALET J., RINGWOOD J., et al.

Summary

The paper investigates the possible use of model predictive control (MPC) or a pasteurization plant. As MPC requires a plant model, a physical first principals model of the pasteurizer was developed and validated. A predictive functional controller was then designed using this model; simulated and measured results are presented. An initial comparison shows that energy saving can be made.
