Summary

The author outlines the need for the supermarket industry to understand the CFC ozone depletion problem and to realise the lack of experience to date in field testing of any substitutes for CFC12 and CFC502. The short term probability is that HCFC22 will be used for most new installations, making cases of vibration and high discharge temperature more common. It is also important to note that CFC handling now requires additional training and accreditation. Most Australian States have systems operating. D.W.H.
