Summary
In the article, the authors describe the Chinese government's position, policy and objectives concerning phase-out of ozone depleting substances and protection of the ozone layer. Implementation programmes and present achievements with respect to CFCs and phase-out of other ozone depleting substances in domestic refrigeration appliances, industrial and commercial refrigeration plant, automobile air conditioners and in the solvent cleaning industry in China are also presented. Measures to be taken in order to meet the new challenge of CFC replacement are also suggested.
