Phasing out of CFC in Sweden.

Summary
A supermarket chain in Sweden is using indirect refrigeration systems in new installations. At present these are using R22 as the refrigerant for medium temperature duties. The refrigeration unit is factory packaged and designed to contain the smallest possible charge of refrigerant. The coolant circulated to the cabinets is a pure alcohol in water solution. For low temperatures, this coolant feeds the condensers of small self-contained R22 systems local to each display section. R134a has been introduced as a substitute to existing R12 systems. The author describes the lengthy process by which the change from a mineral oil to an ester based oil is made. D.W.H.
