Summary

THE PLANT DESCRIBED USES THE HEAT EMITTED BY THE EXOTHERMAL REACTIONOF REACTORS FOR YEAST PRODUCTION, IN ORDER TO PROVIDE THE HEATING OF CLEANING WATER FROM 288 TO 358 K (15 TO 65 DEG C) IN THREE STEPS. THE FIRST STEP IS BY DIRECT EXCHANGE WITH THE EFFLUENTS AND THE OTHER 2 BY 2 HEAT PUMPS WHOSE CONDENSERS ARE ARRANGED IN SERIES ON THE WATER TO BE WARMED, WHEREAS THE EVAPORATORS ARE FITTED IN PARALLEL WITH THE COOLING WATER OF THE REACTORS. THE HYDRAULIC DIAGRAM IS GIVEN TOGETHER WITH A DESCRIPTION OF THE HEAT PUMP CHARACTERISTICS AND THE OPERATING CONDITIONS DURING THE DIFFERENT PERIODS OF THE YEAR. J.R.
