The problems arising from the innovations in this field are discussed on the basis of developments in the prevention of infectious diseases and of cold stress. The cosmetic techniques of waxing fruit are discussed as regards the biological effects of natural waxes and of new synthetic coating materials, as well as their use as fungicide carriers. Technological advances from the introduction of the computer and of electronic systems in processing lines, are discussed, along with sorting and sizing, individual plastic film conditioning, fruit precooling, atmosphere purification and hygrometry, degreening and transport.
