R227: an environmentally benign refrigerant for high temperature heat pump applications.
Author(s) : CHEN J., BEERMANN K., KRUSE H.
Summary
An investigation has been made at the Institute of Refrigeration at the University of Hannover, using R227 to substitute R114 in a water-water heat pump for high temperature applications. The research work involved developing suitable expansion systems, steady state performance tests, and computer simulation to investigate modification requirements: a minimum suction superheat of about 10 K, a larger sized expansion valve. Based on simulation producing the same heat capacity as that of R114 the compressor swept volume of R227 need to be reduced nearly to half the size.
