Summary

This article describes comparison of the theoretical performance of R22, CO2 (R744) and other possible substitutes. In accordance with the transcritical cycle, which characterises the use of CO2, the discharge pressure does not appear to be univocally determined and is a key parameter in the control of the thermodynamic cycle. The performance of CO2 is relevantly conditioned by the outlet temperature of the high-pressure heat exchanger. Thus, this temperature has been selected as control parameter.
