Support of vehicle projects using computational fluid dynamics in the design and validation process.
Author(s) : HEMMERICH H. D., SCHÖCK J.
Summary
For the evaluation of means of improving the thermal comfort in passenger compartments and drivers' cabs, simulation programmes are very helpful. In this study, a programme system for the calculation of the flow field, heat load and temperature distribution is described. The support of vehicle projects using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) in the design and validation process within Bombardier is shown on the basis of concrete examples. The optimization of air flow velocities and the temperature distribution in passenger areas and drivers' cabs, with particular consideration of CO2 accumulation, is presented.
