Summary

Four storage temperatures were tested: 3, 10, 17 and 28 deg C. In conventional storage bundles of dasheen leaves wilt rapidly, losing 59% of their mass after 8 days storage. Leaves packaged in polyethylene film suffered only a slight loss of mass (under 15%) and retained their moisture (with water content of 86%) for 24 days. The packaging reduced losses of chlorophyll and ascorbic acid. At 3 deg C brown discolouring was observed. At 10 deg C proper storage was ensured for 2 weeks.
