Summary

THE AUTHOR SUMS UP RECENT DEVELOPMENTS IN THEFIELD, PARTICULARLY THE USE OF A ULTRAHIGH FREQUENCY ELECTROMAGNETIC FIELD, WHICH THE AUTHOR CALLS THE MOST ADVANCED PROCESS IN YEARS. ALMOST NO ENERGY IS WASTED AND HEAT IS DISTRIBUTED EVENLY THROUGHOUT THE PRODUCT. SIX PLANTS, USING THE METHODS OF IMMERSION, FLOWING WATER AND UHF ENERGY, ARE COMPARED FOR CAPACITY, DURATION, SPEED, WATER REQUIREMENTS, ENERGY EFFICIENCY, SPACE TAKEN UP, AND OTHER FACTORS. THE ONE PLANT USING UHF ENERGY, THE AL-FDV, WAS FOUND TO BE SUPERIOR IN ALMOST EVERY CATEGORY. IT IS DESCRIBED IN DETAIL. IT SHORTENS THAWING TIMES AND MAKES IT POSSIBLE TO REGULATE ALMOST EXACTLY THE FINAL PRODUCT TEMPERATURE. M. C.
