THE TOTAL FROZEN FOOD CONSUMPTION (EXCLUDING POULTRY AND ICE CREAM) IN 10 EUROPEAN COUNTRIES ROSE FROM BETWEEN 3.0% IN SWEDEN TO 10.2% IN ITALY. IF POULTRY IS INCLUDED THE CORRESPONDING FIGURES FOR THE SAME COUNTRIES ARE 2 AND 9.5%. ICECREAM CONSUMPTION GENERALLY FELL, THE LOWEST BEING GERMANY AT -7.4%, THE HIGHEST NORWAY AT + 6%. POULTRY AND VEGETABLES TENDED TO BE THE LEADERS, EXCEPT THE NETHERLANDS WHERE READY MEALS WERE DOMINANT. FROZEN MEAT PRODUCTS NOTABLY HAMBURGERS WERE STRONG IN MANY COUNTRIES AS WERE BAKERY PRODUCTS IN THE UK AND FRANCE. IN THE USA FROZEN FOOD SALES ROSE BY 10.4% DURING 1984, UP $ 0.4 BILLION IN VALUE.
