Central refrigerating plant for air conditioning.
Centrale frigorifera per il condizionamento dell'aria.
Author(s) : CREMASCHI A.
Type of article: Article
Summary
After a review of the problem of ozone depletion and CFC and HCFC phase-out, the author compares the advantages and disadvantages of ammonia and carbon dioxide. The possibilities for use of these refrigerants as replacements for CFCs and HCFCs seem to have been underestimated in Italy. He proposes a system using ammonia as a primary refrigerant and carbon dioxide either as secondary refrigerant or coolant. Energy consumption and cost of the two systems are compared. The author concludes in favour of carbon dioxide as secondary refrigerant.
