Summary
THE FROZEN SEAFOOD MARKET HAS NOT CEASED TO PROGRESS, IMPORTS AMOUNTED TO 75,000 TONNES IN 1987 FOR A NATIONAL PRODUCTION OF 16,000 WITH EXPORT VOLUMES OF 10,000 TONNES. SHELLFISH REPRESENT MORE THAN 80% OF QUICK FROZEN SEAFOODS, OF WHICH ONLY 40% ARE FOR SHRIMPS AND GAMBAS. ONLY CRAB IS DECREASING. SHELLFISH AND CEPHALOPODS, ALTHOUGH HIGHLY DOMINANT IN THE FRESH MARKET, ARE INCREASING NOTABLY, EVEN THOUGH CERTAIN IMPORTS ARE SOMETIMES LIMITED BY REGULATIONS. J.L.
