Summary

A close attention has been paid to important features of the cold chain and its elements including large cold storage facilities, commercial refrigeration facilities as well as household refrigeration facilities. Selected important problems such as energy consumption in the refrigeration chain, frozen food quality in commercial traffic, controlling the temperature in the refrigeration chain and containerisation of refrigerated transport are also discussed.
