EFFECT OF A PREDEGREENING TREATMENT OVER DECAY IN CITRUS AFTER COLD STORAGE.

EFFET D'UN TRAITEMENT CHIMIQUE APPLIQUE AUX AGRUMES AVANT LE DEVERDISSAGE SUR LA POURRITURE APRES STOCKAGE AU FROID.

Summary

A PREDEGREENING TREATMENT BY DRENCHING OF LEMONS AND MANDARINES WITH 0.2% THIABENDAZOLE (TBZ) SOLUTION HAS BEEN EVALUATED. < EUREKA > LEMONS WERE TREATED WITH 20 PPM ETHYLENE FOR 48 AND 72 H AND < DANCY > MANDARINES WITH 5-10 PPM FOR 18, 36 AND 54 H. FOR DEGREENING PROCESS, THE BEST PERIODS WERE 48 AND 36 H FOR LEMONS AND MANDARINES RESPECTIVELY. DRENCHING TREATMENT REDUCED SIGNIFICANTLY THE INCIDENCE OF STEM-END ROT IN LEMONS BUT DELAYED DEGREENING AND AFFECTED THE INTENSITY OF COLOUR. MANDARINES SHOWED MORE DECAY INCIDENCE AND LESS SENSIBILITY FOR PREDEGREENING TREATMENT WITH TBZ.
