THE PRACTICE IS NOW WELL ESTABLISHED AND THE TECHNIQUE RECOGNISED AS ENSURING A MORE TENDER PRODUCT. MORE THAN 120 ABATTOIRS AND SLAUGHTER-HOUSES NOW USE THE TECHNIQUE. A VOLTAGE OF LESS THAN 32 V ALTERNATIVE CURRENT CAN BE USED IF STIMULATION IS WITHIN 8 MINUTES OF STUNNING. HIGHER VOLTAGE CAN BE EFFECTIVE UP TO 60 MINUTES FROM STUNNING.
