Summary
An ice-cube making machine, using natural salted water as a heat transfer media between the evaporator of a refrigeration cycle (which uses a refrigerant R404A) and normal water which intended to get frozen, was manufactured and tested in this experimental study. Theoretical and experimental data, measurements and calculations have been obtained for the designed model considering the salinity of used Dead Sea water. In addition, the effect of operating a circulating salted water puddle fan in the refrigeration cycle on the cooling capacity, the coefficient of performance (COP) and the time required for freezing the normal water were calculated. It was found that from the theoretical calculations and experimental measurements that the cooling capacity of the evaporator, the COP and the time required to freeze the normal water for the ice-making machine with a circulating fan on duty, using Dead Sea salted water whose 340 g/kg-salinity, were calculated and measured to be 216.413 W, 0.871 and 70 minutes respectively.
