Summary
Iyokans are stored after harvest, which lasts from mid-December to early January. Air in a normal temperature store is changed frequently for 2 weeks prior to storage, with natural or forced ventilation. An air circulation unit was designed for citrus stores and found to be suitable for practical applications. Its effects were demonstrated by measuring vertical temperature distribution in a store with a simple ventilator. Changes in environmental conditions were examined in relation to fruit weight loss and colouring.
