Summary

This new edition contains the Polish translation of a book published by the IIR in 1995 and still on sale there (see IIR Bulletin, reference 1996-1307). Many figures related to world population and the role of refrigeration in meeting its food needs are given. Extract of contents: world export market for refrigerated food; refrigeration and world food safety; production and consumption of frozen and quick-frozen food; refrigeration and the world fishing industry; the decade spanning 1991-2000. During the Sydney Congress of the IIR on September 19-24, 1999, the author was awarded the IIR Prize for this work.
