Refrigeration solved examples.

Author(s) : CICONKOV R.

Type of monograph: Book

Summary

This handbook contains commonly accepted formulae and thermophysical data in order to solve examples in refrigeration and air conditioning and provides supplementary reading for students taking the subject at various academic levels. This new edition includes chapters on: CO2 properties and diagramme; water chiller pressure drops; ice storage system for air conditioning; cascade refrigeration cycle with CO2/ammonia in a supermarket application. Extract from the table of contents: basic calculations; refrigeration cycles with an ideal gas (Carnot and Joule refrigeration cycles); single-stage vapour compression refrigeration systems (subcooling, superheating, with a regenerator, with R407C or CO2, water chiller, reciprocating compressors); complex vapour compression refrigeration systems (two-stage compression cycles, three-stage cycle, cascade refrigeration cycle with a regenerator at the low cascade); absorption refrigeration systems (ammonia-water and lithium-bromide water systems); condensers, evaporators, heat exchangers; cold room (calculation of the refrigeration load of the cold- and freezing room; different examples (air-cooled condenser, water chiller, water-water heat pump, water chiller/air-water heat pump, ice storage system for air conditioning, cascade refrigeration cycle CO2/ammonia in supermarket application); thermodynamic and physical properties of refrigerants and secondary coolants (brines). Pressure-enthalpy (Mollier) diagrams are included in A3 format for ammonia, R22, R134a, R404A, R407C, R410A and CO2. The first edition of the handbook (see the Bulletin of the IIR, reference 2001-1154) has been translated into German in 2002.
