Summary
The author analysed the different criteria for choosing a particular R22 substitute, including: condensation pressure, discharge temperature, volumetric efficiency of the compressor, volumetric refrigerating capacity, COP, evaporating temperature variation, global warming potential, toxicity, inflammability and explosiveness. A comparison was done for a high-performance, single-stage hermetic compressor with a swept volume of 10 m3/h at a constant condensation temperature of 40 deg C, a superheat of 5 deg C and a sub-cooling temperature of 3 deg C.
