Summary

THE SUITABILITY OF SEVERAL REFRIGERANTS FOR COMPRESSION REFRIGERATION SYSTEMS AND THEIR OPERATIONAL LIMITS WERE INVESTIGATED BY MEANS OF A COMPUTER CODE INCLUDING SUBROUTINES FOR EVALUATING THE THERMODYNAMIC PROPERTIES OF REFRIGERANT THE ANALYSIS WAS CARRIED OUT FOR REFRIGERANTS R11, R12, R13, R13B1, R21, R22, R23, R113, R114, R115, R142B, R152A, R500, R502, R503, R717, R718, RC318, AND TOOK INTO ACCOUNT THE COP OF THE CYCLE AS WELL AS DIFFERENT FACTORS AFFECTING THE DESIGN OF THE REFRIGERATIONPLANT OR THE CYCLE EFFICIENCY: REFRIGERATING EFFECT PER UNIT OF SWEPT VOLUME ; PRESSURE LEVELS ; TEMPERATURE OF THE COMPRESSED VAPOUR ; EXERGY LOSSES IN THE THROTTLING PROCESS. THE AUTHORS CONCLUDE THAT THE CHOICE OF THE WORKING FLUID FOR A COMPRESSION REFRIGERATION CYCLE DEPENDS, IN GENERAL, ON ACOS E. F.
