This document includes the detailed programme and the abstracts of papers from the following events, which were held simultaneously in Havana, Cuba, March 18-23, 1996; 5th International Conference on Food Science and Technology (CICTA-5), 4th International Congress of Refrigeration, Air Conditioning and Non-Conventional Energies (RECLIEN '96), 7th International Symposium on Bottling, Packaging and Graphic Arts (HAVANA PACK '96), Congress of the Food Science and Technology Association (ACTAC-1). The abstracts deal in particular with: Food Science: fish, fruits and vegetables (mangoes, papayas, applies, banana pulp, broccoli, tomato juice, ready-to-serve tropical fruits, carrots, potato-based products, plums). Refrigeration: energy savings and refrigeration storage, prepared dishes, air conditioning in hospitals and tourist sites, solar applications.
