Résumé

This book presents nearly 200 keynote, oral and poster papers presented at the 8th IWCSPP Conference, held in York, United Kingdom. It highlights work on the pests and diseases that may cause spoilage, adverse health effects and loss of crop after harvest, and discusses new techniques for the safe, effective and environmentally friendly management of stored commodities. Extract from the table of contents: the future of stored product protection: impacts of global issues; biology, detection and biological control; food safety (application of HACCP in grain storage); chemical and physical control (the survival of developmental Sitophilus granarius (L.) subjected to constant and fluctuating temperatures between 0 and 10 °C); processing and applications (performance of an isothermal desiccant bed system for cooling stored grains). These proceedings contain in addition reports of a series of successful workshops on specialist topics that were also part of the scientific programme: resistance to control measures; museum pests; intelligent automated grain management systems; alternative to methyl bromide; trapping and spatial analysis for evaluating pest management practices in retail stores; biological control.
