Summary
This book has been published by the Dutch association of refrigeration (NVvK) on the occasion of its 100th anniversary (September 2008). It is the result of a national and international literature survey. The largest applications of refrigeration systems are cold storage of food and air conditioning. Extract from the table of contents: the food chain, losses by deterioration and food safety; refrigeration technology for healthy food, and a comfortable living and working environment; energy flows in the food chain and energy consumption of refrigerating systems; there is almost no export of agricultural products without cooling; safety and environmental aspects of currently used refrigerants; are CFCs, HCFCs and HFCs an ongoing threat to climate? the actual environmental management and the implications for the refrigeration technology.
