Thermophysical properties of aqueous solutions used as secondary working fluids. Doctoral thesis in energy technology.
Author(s) : MELINDER Å.
Type of monograph: Doctoral thesis
Summary
This doctoral thesis describes how the selection of property values results in tables and charts intended for the industry. It presents enthalpy-phase diagrams made by the author that besides isotherms contain lines with ice fraction and lines connecting enthalpies at freezing point. A comparison is made of a few types of aqueous solutions used as secondary working fluids for two types of applications: bedrock heat pumps and cooling cabinets in a supermarket. Extract from the table of contents: secondary working fluids used in indirect systems; basic thermophysical properties of aqueous solutions: description and comparison of fluids; selection of property values of aqueous solutions; making thermophysical properties of aqueous solutions available for computer use; comparison of aqueous solutions as to heat transport, pressure drop and heat transfer; basic thermophysical properties of aqueous solutions used as ice slurry. In the appendices: conversion chart of additive concentrations; index of refraction of aqueous solutions as a function of the additive concentration; thermal volume expansion of aqueous solutions: measuring results of viscosities (calcium chloride-water; lithium chloride-water; potassium formate-water) as well as 9 appendix papers written by the author.
